About the Role

GEC are seeking a Plant Coordinator to join our Operations team based in the Brisbane Support Office. As Plant Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing timely and accurate information allowing the Project Management team to make informed decisions about plant allocation and usage. In this role, you will support the Project Management team and Head Mechanics by maintaining accurate records of plant rates, hire terms, on-hire/off-hire dates, mobilisation/de-mobilisation dates, damage and machine hours. 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Project Management team by maintaining accurate records of plant and equipment on site;
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain best value hire terms/rates;
  • Hire and off-hire plant and equipment, in line with the project plant requisition process;
  • Maintain the project plant register as a “single source of truth” for project plant;
  • Coordinate plant risk assessments and on-hire inspections;
  • Clearly communicate scheduled mobilisation/standby/off-hire/demob dates to applicable internal stakeholders; 
  • Assist the Plant & Asset Manager to develop proposals for the acquisition/disposal of assets; and
  • Ad hoc admin assistance to the project as required.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you should hold the following traits, skills and qualifications:

  • 2 years minimum experience working in a similar role (highly desirable)
  • In depth knowledge of civil and mechanical construction equipment (desirable)
  • Previous site experience (desirable)
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)
  • The ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and set priorities effectively
  • Be flexible and adaptive to change
